Just like humans, chickens will get sick from time to time despite all efforts to avoid it through our stringent hygiene and biosecurity controls
In the event of a disease outbreak which threatens the health of a flock we may have no option but to medicate the flock. Medication is administered only under the strict supervision of a veterinarian. Good hygiene practices on our farms to date have meant that these cases are rare.
Chickens which are medicated cannot be sold as Free Range Chicken under the Free Range guidelines.
Turi Foods will endeavour where possible to avoid the use of antibiotics in their chickens by ensuring that all preventative measure and controls are in place and strictly adhered to.
