Turi Foods acquires Colonial Farm
Today, Turi Foods announced the acquisition of Colonial Farm, a strong strategic Further Processing company which manufactures a range of cooked and further processed products. This acquisition will complement Turi Foods’ existing food brands, La Ionica, Bannockburn Free Range, Golden Farms and Montefiore Cheese.
Turi Foods is a family owned company based in Thomastown, with facilities throughout Victoria. They are the largest poultry processor in Victoria; supplying major supermarkets, quick service restaurants, specialty chicken retailers, butcher shops, and roast chicken outlets.
Colonial Farm is a 100 percent Australian owned and operated, private company. Established in 1985, the company has grown steadily to become a leading manufacturer and supplier of quality food products for food service, and retail customers in the domestic and export markets.

Turi Foods will continue to operate their chicken processing plants, and cheese making facility, out of Thomastown and Geelong, while further processed products will continue to be manufactured at Colonial’s facility in Broadmeadows.
Turi Foods is a family owned, fully integrated poultry producer based in Victoria, with distribution across five states. They are the third largest poultry company in Australia. They operate two processing plants at Thomastown and Geelong, hatcheries at Devon Meadows and Bannockburn, breeder farms at Nagambie and Bannockburn, and engage with 85 contract broiler growers. Turi Foods employs approx. 800 people.
Colonial Farm is a medium sized further processor, producing a range of fully cooked and partially cooked chicken and meat products for the retail and food service markets. They operate from a new facility in Broadmeadows and employee approx. 80 people.
