We will strictly maintain a program of animal welfare that is designed to treat our chickens with respect and to eliminate unnecessary harm and suffering in the day to day operation of our production processes.
Chickens are cared for by our farmers, and transported, according to animal welfare codes.
The health and wellbeing of our flocks is of paramount importance. We insist on the maintenance of very high company standards when it comes to biosecurity. These standards are reflected in the Australian standards, which are among the most stringent in the world.
The aim of these measures is to prevent the spread of diseases on and between farms and include:
- On farm quarantine and visitor disinfectant precautions.
- An effective hygiene regime in order to maintain a healthy flock.
- Clean drinking water, no untreated dam or river water can be used.
- The use of antibiotics is strictly controlled. They are administered under vetinerary supervision only in the event of a threat to flock health.
